He was born in the Netherlands and moved to Ireland as a child. After growing up in the small town of Clonakilty, he moved to Dublin at 17 to study at the National Film School, IADT before returning to Amsterdam to study at the Dutch Film Academy (NFA), as a fiction director. His graduating film Day of Steel (Vloeibaar Staal) won multiple international awards.
Flynn’s debut feature film I Don’t Wanna Dance was in cinemas in the Netherlands in 2021 and was nominated for two Dutch Academy Awards (Gouden Kalveren). He’s currently filming a three-part documentary series called The Snowman for Dutch streamer Videoland alongside working on a six-part documentary series called The Psychology of Con Artists with producer Topkapi nonfiction. He's also co-directing the high-end series Laura H., which is currently in pre-production.
